Jul 19, 2021 · The National Trust has announced that Troy Scott Smith has been appointed new Head Gardener at Sissinghurst Castle Garden in Kent. Troy was Gardener at the renowned Grade I-listed garden from 1992 – 1997 and Head Gardener from 2013 – 2019 and returns to that role following two years at the privately owned Iford Manor Gardens in Wiltshire.
Troy was born in Jamaica and grew up in Toronto, watching movies of all genres in Toronto's iconic theaters, like the Uptown, University, and Coronet. As a Director, Troy is simultaneously a technician and authentic storyteller, who values diversity and the art of collaboration.
