David Niven is naturally likeable and Toshiro Mifune is always charismatic, but this is a poor outing for both of them. Mifune is dubbed (surely his English wasn't THAT bad in 1975 that they could have let him have a few lines) and it muffles him, and Niven spends 3/4 of the movie as a tedious old fraud and, once he decides to be the man of action he has pretended to be all his life, changes ...
