Apr 6, 2023 · His Disney History. Don Hahn joined Walt Disney Studios in 1976, first for a summer job delivering coffee and art to Disney animators. Mentored by several future Disney Legends such as Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston, and Wolfgang “Woolie” Reitherman, he took on his first animation assignment, serving as an inbetweener on Pete’s Dragon (1977).
Don Hahn is a writer/producer/director whose credits include the worldwide phenomenon The Lion King, the classic Beauty and the Beast, the first animated film nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, and Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie. Hahn also served as associate producer of the landmark film Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
