Allan Glen's School c1876 on the corner of North Hanover Street and Cathedral Street Allan Glen was a wright who became a wealthy property owner who left £20,000 in his will in 1850 to make "provision for giving gratuitously a good practical education to about fifty boys, sons of tradesmen or persons in the industrial classes in Glasgow".

Allan Glen died at Gourock on 18th February 1850, and was buried at the Southern Necropolis in Glasgow.
