It was built in 1773 as a cotton-spinning mill incorporating workers’ houses, by General Stuart of Torrance. The building has had many uses from a school, shop and coaching inn, and you’ll still find many of the building’s original charm and features. Today the hotel is still the hub of the local community and it is a busy thriving hotel which is popular with locals. Visitors can enjoy a relaxed and welcoming restaurant, and an open, airy conservatory which can accommodate fine dining, private parties or intimate get-togethers. A beer garden offers flat screen televisions and is a perfect spot to watch all the big sports events with a collection of friends.
